Greece reassured online casinos - there will be no April Fools' problem

Online casinos operating in Greece are awaiting a new licensing system. The officials, who feel that the document is "late", decided to warn the management: no collapse is foreseen.

Online casino owners holding a Greek license are worried about the upcoming March 31st date of license expiration. Legal sites, warned the Greek regulator, will be able to continue working. The main thing is to provide a package of documents regarding license renewal on time.

The nervousness that gripped the online casino management is understandable - for several years Greece has been trying to launch an updated law regulating online casinos. The latter have been forced to use temporary permits for nine years. Previous options were rejected by representatives of the gambling market, who saw that local casino operators would receive preferences.

The introduction of the new law was also delayed by changes of governments - newly incoming ministers were finalizing the "raw" law on online casinos. Recently, the document, finally polished, was sent to the European Commission. The new law, writes icasino.club , will appear in April and officials will begin licensing. However, even another delay, even if it “overlaps” through April, will not cause any inconvenience to the online casino - the old regulations will apply.

Among the innovations of the future licensing code, the developers mention the limitation: bets are € 2, the maximum payout is € 5,000, and the jackpot is € 500,000. Limiting rates, experts write, the Greeks took over from the British.
